SHOW UP PROJECT MISSION

Inspired by the legacy of Patti Smith Barrett, the SHOW UP Project strives to encourage individuals, particularly young people, to be present for others—in their community, at school, and in their homes. By making “SHOWING UP" a habit, we demonstrate the profound power of forging deep, genuine connections.

 

Patti believed in the simple power of making herself available. Whether to a lifelong friend, a casual acquaintance, or a stranger in need, she met people exactly where they were with a steadfast presence and a willingness to help. She never made a show of being there for others or sought recognition for her kindness; she simply showed up, again and again.

 

Through purposeful service events and programs, we continue this legacy and provide opportunities for people to see the immediate impact of their presence in their communities and beyond. 

 

Because sometimes the most menaingful thing we can do is simply SHOW UP.
